Becker 2016 St. Paul Spätburgunder Grand Cru dry is a wine from Winebuyers. This wine is a 75cl bottle. The vineyard is located south of Weissenburg in Alsace, France, and is named after a former monastery outpost. The soil is based on a large limestone rock with a low circulation of clayey loamy topsoil. The grapes were carefully hand selected, de-stemmed, and separately fermented on the skin. After 2 to 3 weeks of fermentation in open oak vats, they were gently pressed. The wine was then matured for 18 months in small oak barrels without filtration or fining. The colour is deep ruby red, with aromas of wild berries, juniper berry, red pepper, and tobacco on the nose. On the palate, it is dense with good structure, elegant, and juicy, with length and well-balanced tannins. It has great ageing potential. The wine has an alcohol content of 13.5% vol, a residual sugar of 0.2 g/l, and an acidity of 6.0 g/l. It is a unisex wine, suitable for both men and women.
