This 75cl red wine is a ravishing revival of the Laska grape, with only a few hundred bottles made. It's a rich and round wine with flavors of blackberry, black cherry, and blackcurrant, along with a delicate dash of peppery spice from resting 14 months in neutral oak barrels. The Laska grape was nearly lost after the phylloxera plague, but winemaker József Szentesi brought it back to life, giving it a home in his estate vineyards in Etyek-Buda. This wine deserves pairings that honour its renaissance, such as grilled steak, lamb, pork, game meats, or for vegans/vegetarians, grilled portobello mushroom. It's suitable for both men and women.
