A dense, compact deciduous shrub, with rounded, dark blue-green leaves which emerge with a purple tinge in spring. An excellent choice for an informal, flowering hedge for a sunny, well-drained site, and it is attractive to a wide range of insects so makes a welcome addition to the wildlife garden. Garden care: When planting 'June Bride' incorporate well-rotted compost and some mycorrhizal fungi into the planting hole. Immediately after flowering prune flowered shoots to strong buds. On mature specimens cut back a quarter to a fifth of the old shoots to the base.
