What if music could help plants grow? Inspired by the cult 1976 album Plantasia by pioneering electronic composer Mort Garson, this immersive new performance is a celebration of analogue synthesis, collective creation, botanical inspiration and the enduring relevance of Garson's work - reimagined for now, and for Sheffield. Created specifically to be played to houseplants, Plantasia became famous for its unconventional distribution: copies were initially given away with the purchase of mattresses and houseplants, and quietly cultivated a devoted following. Musically directed by Lou Barnell and Zebedee C. Budworth, this performance draws on the warmth and unpredictability of classic analogue synthesizers. Lucy Haighton brings a physical element to the performance. Drawing on her lived experience of ME/CFS, the performance reflects on adaptation, fragility, recovery and the often unseen processes of growth.
