Pauillac Grand Cru Classé 2009 Château Lynch Bages

£197

One of the most emblematic wines of Bordeaux, Château Lynch-Bages has been a Grand Cru Classé since 1855. The estate's vineyards are situated on superior, gravelly rises, overlooking the Gironde estuary south-west of the town of Pauillac. The terroir strongly favours Cabernet Sauvignon, and this variety invariably dominates the composition of the wine, complemented by smaller proportions of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This is classic, Left Bank claret - refined and reserved, with a certain coolness, fine balance and the effortless ability to age gracefully. Riper vintages add a sumptuous richness and juiciness to this quintessentially elegant wine.
