Each spring, fresh new foliage emerges in a rich shade of burgundy red, before gradually turning greener as the season progresses. Then, in summer, clusters of white flowers appear, and these are soon followed by a crop of tasty berries, which can be harvested from late summer. Garden care: Prepare the ground well before planting. Prune in winter, cutting out dead or damaged branches. In spring, feed with sulphate of ammonia, sulphate of potash and bonemeal and top-dress with ericaceous compost.
