Guillaume Gonnet Châteauneuf-du-Pape 'Bel Ami' 2021 is a smouldering, savoury and sexy red wine. Aromas of cherries, plums and blackberries, with a hint of garrigue, liquorice and spice. The palate is big, chewy and spicy, as great Châteauneuf should be. Tannins are firm but approachable, and melt after an hour in the decanter. This wine is ideally suited to accompany game, duck or steak. A fine wine indeed. The energetic and charismatic Guillaume Gonnet is a Rhône winemaker with a curious and boundary-challenging approach. He has travelled extensively, including to Australia and New Zealand, and now runs his family estate with his Australian wife Kelly.
