The Himmelreich ('Kingdom of Heaven') vineyard is a glorious, southwest-facing site planted to Riesling vines, that plunges precipitously down to the Mosel river. The fissured, Devonian slate soil allows the vines to dig deep for moisture, while absorbing and re-radiating the sun's warmth, promoting ripeness, and therefore favouring late-harvest wines, such as this. JJ Prum is an iconic producer of the Mosel valley, and the unofficial designation 'Goldkapsel' indicates that this is a particularly special bottle.
