Rich Magenta marked with a white stripe on the petals, this is the true Gladioli Byzantinus and not the subspecies byzantinus communis. This elegant Gladioli will happily naturalise and bring years of colour. The leaves will emerge early and may, in cold areas, need a light mulch. This classical form is a beautiful, hardy wildflower and will be equally at home in the wildflower meadow or the herbaceous perennial border. Give it a naturalistic planting to show it at its best. Heirloom variety dated around 1580
