Many of us probably know him best however from his superb furnishings and textile designs intricately weaving together natural motifs in a highly stylized two-dimensional fashion influenced by medieval conventions. Kate Faulkner (1841–98) was an artist and designer who produced designs for Morris & Co. amongst other work. Her range of media included: wood engraving embroidery gesso painting tile painting wallpaper design fabric design and china painting. She was the sibling of artist and author Lucy Faulkner Orrinsmith and founder member of Morris Marshall Faulkner & Co. Charles Joseph Faulkner.
