The Marquis d'Angerville purchased the family domaine, including the elegant house on the northern side of the village, in 1906. Focusing on quality, he was one of the pioneers in bottling his own wines, soon establishing a fine reputation for his wines. His son Jacques took over after WWII and ran the domaine for fifty years, and is majorly responsible for the esteem in which the wines were held throughout that period to the present day. Subsequently, the vineyards have been converted to biodynamics by 2009, and the wines, if anything, are even better. The domaine is firmly dedicated to Volnay, and the 12.64ha of vineyards cover most of the best Premier Crus in Volnay. There is a small plot of Pommard Premier Cru Combes-Dessus located just across the border from Volnay, and the Meursault from the border Premier Cru of Les Santenots Clos des Ducs – where the house and winery are situated – is a notable part of this exceptional range. This wine is a 2016 red wine, bottled in 75cl.
