Chionodoxa forbesii, Glory of the Snow, produces clusters of five or more clear blue flowers with a white centre on 10cm stems from late February. One of the earliest true-blue bulbs and an excellent naturaliser in grass, under deciduous trees and in rockeries. Plant it with Crocus Tommasinianus for a blue-on-purple early combination.
