Bruno Sourdais Chinon 'Les Clos' 2009, 75cL Wine BottleBy Winebuyers

£30

This is a classic Chinon wine from a great vintage, standing up very well indeed. The bright mulberry and black cherry flavors lead the attack, followed by signs of gentle maturation, including sous bois, tobacco and a touch of wet cedar. The palate has structure but is silky soft and velvety. It's brilliant with roast duck. Le Logis de la Bouchardière, a property dating from 1850, is home to Bruno Sourdais, the 6th generation to manage the estate. Bruno joined his late father, Serge, in 1990, taking full control from the 2008 vintage. The wine is made from a six-hectare parcel of 40 to 50 year old vines on well-drained flinty soils on a slope directly above the cellar.
